Day 209 Jupiter

This is Jupiter and her four largest moons. Why the lines?  Well, this is a 30 second exposure.  Have you ever taken a picture and have it blurred?  Say headlights on a car that leave a long streak? This is the same effect. I had my camera mounted on a tripod. So why the streaks?  Well, what you are seeing is the movement of the earth that happened during the 30 seconds of this exposure. Remember that the earth is rotating on its axis.  I went to a SkyandTelescope.com to see where Juipter and its moons were. I took this image at aproxmitely 9:58 PM CST from Spring, Tx on September 25, 2010. According to that web site,  you see from left to right, Callisto, Io, Jupiter, Europa, and Ganymede.  I was totally facinated that I could capture this with my D200. Now I'm wanting a telescope with a t-mount for my camera. One day...  And you can make out the curvature of Jupiter.

For the record, the original image is a 30 second exposure, ISO 800, 200 mm, and F13. I then cropped the image considerably to zoom in on the image above. Below is the original image.

Day 208 Loghenge

Loghenge?  I have no clue why this log pole formation exists in Spring, TX at the intersection of Louetta and Old Holtzwarth. However I don't think this will last as long as the stone version. But I don't think anyone really knows why that one exists either...

Day 207 Light

I captured this image as I was driving home tonight. I darkened the image a bit to really bring out the sunlight as it tore through the clouds. There are a few people I've met in my life that this reminds me of. They don't realize their true inner light that I can see. I hope I can act as a mirror and reflect back to them some of what they give to me. To my true friends: thank you, you help brighten up my dark moments. I hope and pray that I can be there for you in your dark times.

And this image I captured just before arriving home. I didn't darken the image as much as I wanted to let the blue sky and clouds have an impact on the image.

Day 206 Havest Moon

Taken with my D200 and Nikkor 18-200 set at 200.  I had to crop to make it appear larger.

I captured this image with my Canon point and shoot in macro mode. I was about 3 inches from this large bumble bee. Thankfully he was friendly.

The sun peeking out. This just a few blocks from home tonight.

And just for fun, here is a pano I put together from some images captured during lunch at Bear Creek Park at the War Memorial.

Day 205 Lady Bug

I had a guest come see me today at work. She landed on a railing as I was walking between buildings. I held her hand for a moment and then she flew off. Sigh.

And this rainbow appeared on my way home. If you look closely you'll see a double rainbow. Just a bit of the second one at the left of the image. I still believe in rainbows.
Almost home and I capture this image. I rolled down the window while stopped at a light.  I really liked the stark contrast of the dark storm cloud with the brighter ones.

Day 204 Birthday

Today is Collette's Birthday. And here she is with Olivia at dinner tonight.

I liked this image as well.

And another panoramic shot from tonight.I tied six images together and cleaned it up a bit. Still working on getting this right.

Day 203 - Mountain

Very tired today. This image I took at brunch. Mt Half & Half.
