Day 6

Master at work. This is Cliff and he is teaching a group of young women age 15 how to rock climb. Here is demonstrating how to setup to belay. That's a carabiner and the small blue thing-a-majig allows the belayer to brake the fall of the climber.   This is preparation for the 4th year Rough Out camping trip for 15 year old girls at our church. My wife Collette is part of the leadership group responsible to help setup the trip. Oh, and by the way, I get to tag along and help out.  Should be a fun trip and I hope to have some nice pictures from Enchanted Rock.

Day 5

I know that somewhere deep inside me there is still some light, some warmth, some feeling. It's very difficult most of the time for me to open up and share -- it's so easy for some people to trample what they don't value. I think most are amazed at how much I do really care. Like most I have my carefully crafted barriers of protection. And just like here you don't see the glass panes shielding these mantles from the elements. They are quite thick and really not very clean.   One of the first things we did after moving into our home was to install this gas light in our yard. It's been a faithful friend for over 10 years never ceasing to share its light for all.

On the other hand this could just be a ghostly encounter and I've watched too many episodes of Ghost Hunters.

I took this at 6:48 this morning and it was my first picture of the day. I just deepened the shadows in photoshop, pushed the contrast up a bit and this is the result. I like the way it seems to float in space -- an effect I didn't foresee, but like. I hope you enjoy.

Day 4

Today I took a walk for lunch with my good friend Lihua. I told her I needed to take some pictures during lunch. So she made sure I grabbed something to eat and then walked with me to take some pictures. Spring is just around the corner and new things are just start to come back to life. I can almost feel the thawing within.

And yes, I just made my post by minutes today.  See you tomorrow.

Day 3

Miss Grey. This is the offspring of Bela. She is not quite a jungle cat, but definitely living in the wild. (OK just a neighborhood in NW Houston, but this still looks like she's in the forest). There is a sad story about her litter mate when they were just weeks old. Suffice it to say that Miss Grey is a wee bit more intelligent.

A note about yesterday's pictures.  Both Angel and I were standing within feet of each other when we took our shots. We didn't know at the time that we'd both use those pictures. Here's a link to Angel's pic http://eWolf365.blogspot.com/

Day 2

Well, another shot of work. This one appealed to me as our group made our way to lunch. I actually wondered as I took the shot, "Where does this path lead?" I realized I'd never been down this walkway. Parking garage to the right and fitness center to the left. I feel a bit squeezed viewing this. Wonder why.

I took several other shots today, but this was my first and really appealed to me. The bright spot at the top is just a bit of sun glare. Forgot to put my hood on the lens.

Day 1

It struck me that this was as good a place to start the journey as any other. This is my cubicle at work. I have nothing personal in this area. I call it my therapy. Helps me keep work and personal life separate. I took the photo in color and desaturated it to B&W. Last year was a difficult time for me at work and in a way this metaphorically depicts my numbness. I'm hoping that this journey will help bring that joy back into my life. Really, I have many reasons to be joyful and my expectation is that this process will help bring that resonance back. I know my family is looking forward to that. They are all very patient with me.

Project 365

I am starting a one year journey inspired by my good friend Angel. You can visit his blog at http://ewolf365.blogspot.com/.

We've talked for years about "doing" something with photography. We are both photography enthusiasts and probably just a step above good amatuers -- well, I just speak for myself. Angel claims he wants to be an artiste and he really does good work and has great ideas. Me? I just love to take pictures and hope that a few goods ones will show up. I'm working on artistic quality and hopefully this project will help. The goal is to take and post a picture everyday and to comment on its significance.

This is about the journey and I don't know where it will lead. Hopefully you can enjoy all or as much of this journey as you like.

The journey starts tomorrow -- March 1, 2010
